Getting Ready....

Blogging seems to be the new thing these days, but I was never one to follow trends. I decided to start this blog because I am about to begin my freshman year of college 3 hours away from home, and I think it would be beneficial to my phone bill, email inbox, and sanity if my family and friends would check here to find out what all is going on in my life. I promise that I am 100% honest with everything I post on here, so there isn't going to be a dull moment anytime soon.
It's officially 27 days until I move off to college, but it feels like it's taking 27 years. Since I am not there yet and cannot post things about how awesome my 16' x 11' 5" dorm room is, I will give you a little backstory so you can identify yourself with me if you don't already know me like the back of your hand.
My name is Rebecca McCall Buckingham. 23 letters long. Probably the only thing about me that can be called long, since I stand roughly 5'2" in height and have legs shorter than anyone's I know. I'm eighteen years of age (born 4/8/93) but I act much older. I was raised in a small town in Kentucky called Fulton, which I have been dying to get out of since I can remember. Fulton has two major hang out spots for teenagers to go, which consist of a parking lot in the middle of town, and Walmart. Yes, I said Walmart. Who hangs out in the middle of a supermarket? Anyways, I guess that explains how small Fulton is. I graduated in a class of 26 kids, four of which are attending Western Kentucky University with me in about a month. I'm pretty sure I've only talked to one of them since graduation day.
My family is insanely involved in the legal system. No, really. My father is a police officer, has been since way before I was born, and he LOVES his job. I'm really proud of him, because it takes a lot to do everything he has to do all day. My mother works at the county jail (I do too during the summer) for my uncle, who happens to be the jailer! Needless to say, I can't do anything around here without getting caught.
Which brings me back to college. WKU is a known party school, but I don't anticipate partying like my classmates while I'm there. I guess if I do change, all of you will watch me change over the next few months. Currently, I am really into reading books on my Kindle, since regular books seem like a huge chore now that I have become accustomed to clicking buttons and sliding lock screens rather than turning pages and dog-earing them. I also always try to make time for music, but I have no specific taste. I listen to everything from 90's rock bands (Third Eye Blind, Oasis) to Lil Wayne. I have recently picked up a fascination with Mumford & Sons and St. Vincent. If you don't know them, you should definitely check them out. I dye my hair all the time, so there is no telling what I will have going on when you see me next (currently I am blonde and have 8 feathers in my hair).
Now that I've spent an unnecessary amount of time telling you what I like and where I come from, I guess you either love me or you hate me. I honestly could care less which, because I am starting a new life here soon. I will no longer be "McCall, the police's daughter" or "Pic Pac girl" or "That  girl that was Lady Gaga in the talent show(Long story short: my friend Alex is obsessed with Lady Gaga, and I love performing. This involved coke cans in my hair, chains, and sunglasses that I couldn't see out of.)" When I get to Bowling Green, I will just be the girl from Bemis that's majoring in English. I'll be me.

                                                           MOVING ON.........

Last night I started cleaning my room out. Not tidying up like I have been doing for the past 18 years. Cleaning it OUT. I think I had like 50 gazillion posters on my wall in the course of my life, because the entire thing looks like it went through acupuncture. My walls are my favourite colour, red. I painted them myself in the 9th grade and covered them in pictures my friends made me, posters of John Cena and The Dark Knight, and Good Charlotte. My walls....my entire room....was me, splattered up on a flat surface for everyone to see. If you looked at my walls, you could see how I have changed over the years, because while one wall was covered in Twilight crap (I was a fan, shoot me.), The other had WWE and Alice in Wonderland things. Taking the tacks out of the wall was no problem. pulling the pictures off and putting them in a box still didn't bother me (sidenote: did you know that if left alone long enough, the lines on notebook paper actually disappear? a friend made me a picture on notebook paper 3 years ago, and all you can see of the lines is a ghost of the margin). The weird part was when I finished and looked up at my room, completely empty of all things me. This makes moving a lot more real........

That is all for now. I will try to update once a week or so.
